Tesla India FY26 Revenue Jumps 12x as Car Sales Begin

Tesla India has closed its first full financial year with vehicle sales in the country on a strong note, reporting a sharp rise in both revenue and profit.

The electric vehicle company logged Rs 247.31 crore in revenue for FY2025-26, up from Rs 20.83 crore a year earlier. Net profit reached Rs 5.16 crore, according to its regulatory filings.

The year marked a turning point for the business. Vehicle sales contributed to revenue for the first time, while in FY2025 the company's earnings came entirely from services.

Car sales accounted for about 87 percent of FY2026 revenue, bringing in Rs 214.69 crore. Service income stood at Rs 32.40 crore.

Net profit, which was Rs 55.49 lakh in FY2025, rose to Rs 5.16 crore in FY2026. The company expanded its footprint during this period, opening its first showroom in Mumbai in 2025.

While the sales volume is still relatively small, demand signals are strengthening. Tesla registered 346 vehicles in India from September 2025 to March 2026. Registrations then reached 650 units in the April to September half of FY2027, surpassing the total sales of the entire previous year.

Monthly average registrations increased from about 49 vehicles at the early stage to 108 vehicles per month, a sign of growing market acceptance.

To bolster its financial position, Tesla put around Rs 86 crore of fresh capital into its Indian entity in FY2026. Capital expenditure on property, plant and equipment and capital work in progress jumped to Rs 62.54 crore from Rs 1.16 crore in the previous year.

Elsewhere, Elon Musk demonstrated the new Roadster sports car in October at SpaceX's Texas facility. A prototype briefly rose off the ground before landing safely. The event was compared to flying cars and attracted considerable attention worldwide.
