UN Calls for Multilateralism as BRICS Gains Influence

UN Secretary‑General spokesperson Stephen Dujarric told reporters that multilateralism has become more crucial than ever in a world where emerging economies are reshaping power dynamics. He praised the BRICS grouping for representing a large share of the global population and a substantial portion of worldwide production.

Dujarric stressed that constructive agreements among regional blocs are the most effective way to ease international tensions. He urged reforms in global financial institutions to better reflect the interests of the Global South, arguing that a more balanced system would prevent any single group from monopolising benefits.

The UN official highlighted the need for a fairer trade architecture that amplifies the voice of developing nations, allowing them to contribute more meaningfully to worldwide prosperity.
