Regulatory tests find unsafe pesticide levels in Wonderland Raisins, full recall instructed

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has declared a batch of "Wonderland Raisins" produced by Sun Organic Industries Private Limited unsafe for consumption after regulatory testing detected pesticide residues beyond the permissible threshold.

The sample, collected by the regional office's Central Food Safety Officer, was analyzed by the National Food Laboratory in Ghaziabad and a referral laboratory at NIFTEM‑KE. Both labs concluded that the residue levels violated the standards set in the 2011 Food Products Standards and Food Additives Regulations.

Consequently, the regulator invoked powers granted by the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and issued a recall order covering the whole batch. Sun Organic must comply with the Food Recall Regulations of 2017, provide periodic recall status updates, retain accurate records of retrieved items, and put in place corrective actions to avoid future breaches.

The move reflects the agency’s commitment to safeguarding public health by removing food products that do not meet safety criteria.
