West Bengal Operates 463 Public EV Chargers Under FAME‑II, No Formal Assessment Yet

Under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME‑II) scheme, Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum received approval for 482 public EV charging stations in West Bengal. As of 1 July 2026, 463 of these stations are functional. The ministry noted that a formal evaluation of the adequacy of the charging network in the state has not been conducted, leaving the question of sufficiency open.
