The Indian government has launched a new initiative to strengthen the digital education system called APAAR ID. This ID serves as a unique digital identity for every student, storing all their education-related information on a single platform. This guide will explain what APAAR ID is, its benefits, and how to obtain it online.
APAAR stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry. It’s created under the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC). It functions like a digital account, storing all education-related details of a student, including school or college admissions, completed classes, course credits, certificates, and degrees.
Benefits of APAAR ID:
* Digital record of education is maintained.
* Easy transition between institutions.
* Certificate security.
* Protection against fraud.
* Simplified national-level tracking.
How to Obtain APAAR ID Online:
Students or applicants must contact their schools. The school updates the student’s information, including name, Aadhaar, mobile number, and class, on the UDISE+ portal. After this, students must log in to DigiLocker using their Aadhaar card. After logging into DigiLocker, select the APAAR ID option and grant authorization. The APAAR ID will be generated within seconds and saved in DigiLocker.
Note: If the student is a minor (under 18 years of age), parental consent is required.
Who Can Apply?
Students studying in government or private schools can apply. College and university students, as well as those pursuing skill development courses, are also eligible.
APAAR ID is a significant step towards making education in India more digital and transparent. It enables students to better track their educational journey and access information instantly when needed.
