WhatsApp is consistently working on new features to improve user experience. The company is currently testing a special update called Motion Photo for Android users. According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, this feature has been spotted in WhatsApp beta version 2.25.22.29 and is currently available to only a select few beta testers.
Motion Photo is a camera feature that records a few moments before and after a photo is taken. It captures not only the movement in the picture but also the audio, making the images feel more alive. Many smartphones, such as Samsung’s Motion Photos and Google Pixel’s Top Shot, already come with this capability.
When a user selects an image from the gallery, a new icon will appear in the top right corner of the screen. This icon will feature a play button surrounded by a ring and a small circle. By tapping on this, users will be able to send the photo as a Motion Photo. The sent photo will not only show movement but also allow the sound of that moment to be heard.
To send Motion Photos on WhatsApp, your smartphone must already have this feature. However, even if your phone does not have the ability to capture Motion Photos, you will still be able to view the Motion Photos sent by others.
In addition to Motion Photo, WhatsApp is also working on another important feature. Users will be able to share their usernames instead of their phone numbers. This will make the chatting experience even more secure and improve privacy.
Overall, WhatsApp’s Motion Photo feature will not only make photo sharing more fun, but it will also help preserve memories in a more vibrant way. The username feature will provide users with a new and secure way to share their identity.
