Over 100 Theatre Professionals from Nine Nations to Perform in Delhi

Delhi is set to welcome more than one hundred theatre professionals from the BRICS bloc and partner countries for the BRICS Theatre Festival 2026. Scheduled between 12 and 14 October, the festival will spotlight a mosaic of performances, ranging from traditional stagecraft to avant‑garde experiments.

The roster includes artists from India, Thailand, Indonesia, Russia, Vietnam, Iran, South Africa, Kazakhstan and Ethiopia. Russia will field two distinguished theatre groups, while India will contribute two productions that showcase contemporary Indian dramaturgy.

Venues such as the National School of Drama’s main auditorium, the Abhimanch Auditorium, Samukh Auditorium, Kamani Auditorium, LTG Auditorium and Meghdoot Theatre will host the shows. Each location offers distinct acoustics and seating arrangements, designed to enhance the audience’s immersion in varied theatrical styles.

Beyond performances, the festival will feature a series of workshops led by directors, actors and production designers. Participants will discuss topics like method acting, stagecraft innovations, lighting design and the integration of technology in live performance.

The event reflects the objectives set forth in the Bhopal Declaration, which calls for increased cultural cooperation, robust people‑to‑people exchange, and the creation of a voluntary Artist Registry to streamline future collaborations. By bringing together a diverse community of creators, the festival aims to build a resilient network that sustains artistic dialogue across the BRICS nations.
