Over 24,000 Grain Firms in China Generate More Than 40 Trillion Yuan Annually

The eighth China Grain Trade Conference, held on September 5 in Hunan’s capital, Changsha, confirmed that China’s grain industry is now producing industrial output worth more than 40 trillion yuan each year. According to Liu Huanshin, the sector comprises roughly 24,000 enterprises, with provincial contributions surpassing one trillion yuan in more than a third of the regions. Nationwide, authorities have created 33 provincial and 117 municipal or county public grain brands to safeguard quality and streamline supply. Grain production stays above 650 million tonnes annually, and projections suggest it will remain over 700 million tonnes in both 2024 and 2025, supported by high‑level reserves and ongoing optimisation of stock composition.
