9th Grader Suspected in Deadly Thai School Gunfire; Police Investigate

Friday’s shooting at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in the Bang Kruei district of Nonthaburi province left seven people dead, including three children, three teachers, and the gunman suspected to be a ninth‑grade student.

The young suspect reportedly entered the school wearing a purple sports uniform and opened fire with a 9 mm handgun, firing numerous rounds before sealing himself on the third floor of the pink‑hued building. Police later found the shooter dead, apparently from self‑inflicted wounds.

Fifteen other individuals were injured and taken to medical facilities for treatment. The incident prompted an immediate lockdown, and the campus was cleared of students and staff for safety.

Forensic police are now examining the site to piece together the exact flow of events and to understand why the attack was carried out. Authorities have appealed for the public to refrain from live‑streaming the scene, emphasizing that such actions could jeopardize the investigation.
