Air India announced on Monday the temporary suspension of its flight services from Delhi to Washington DC, effective September 1st. This decision stems from operational considerations. The primary driver is the planned reduction in Air India’s fleet, as the airline initiated the retrofitting of 26 Boeing 787-8 aircraft last month. This extensive retrofit program, designed to enhance customer experience, will necessitate the prolonged unavailability of multiple aircraft until the end of 2026. Additionally, the ongoing closure of Pakistani airspace impacts the airline’s long-haul operations, resulting in longer flight routes and increased operational complexities.
