Artificial intelligence is rapidly being integrated into various sectors. Now, AI has entered the realm of government and politics. Albania has made history by appointing an AI minister within its government to tackle corruption. This makes Albania the first country to have a virtual minister. The AI minister, named ‘Diela’, which means ‘sun’, will be responsible for ensuring transparency and fighting corruption.
Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that Diela will be a member of the cabinet, existing not physically but virtually. The AI-generated bot will assist in ensuring that government contracts are 100% corruption-free, thereby aiding the government in operating with full transparency. According to the website of Albania’s National Agency for Information Society, Diela will utilize updated AI models and techniques to fulfill her responsibilities.
