A 60‑day amateur basketball tournament held in Xiao’an district of Xiaogan city brought together 40 teams and roughly 1,000 players. Over 563 merchants set up stalls in the venue market, recording total turnover of more than 1.58 million yuan. In addition, 10,000 consumer vouchers were issued, driving sales of about 13.7 million yuan. Officials say the “sport‑plus‑cultural tourism” model has proven effective at energising local commerce.
