Amit Kshatriya, a robotics engineer of Indian origin, has been named the new Associate Administrator of NASA, the agency’s highest civil service position. Born in Wisconsin and raised in Texas, Kshatriya brings over twenty years of experience to the role. Previously, he led NASA’s ‘Moon to Mars Program,’ formulating strategies for human space exploration. He also made significant contributions to the Artemis campaign, overseeing the planning and execution of human missions to the Moon. Kshatriya’s new responsibilities include advancing NASA’s plan to return to the Moon. He is an alumnus of the California Institute of Technology and the University of Texas at Austin. Kshatriya began his NASA career in 2003, working on the robotic assembly of the International Space Station. He has received the ‘NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal’ and the ‘Silver Snoopy’ award.
