The Arab League has voiced strong disapproval following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s endorsement of the ‘Greater Israel’ concept. Netanyahu, during an Israeli television interview, expressed his affinity for the idea. This has led to condemnation from Arab nations, who view it as an infringement upon their sovereignty. Jordan, a key ally of Israel, has also criticized Netanyahu, urging him to abandon any expansionist ambitions. The League released a statement on Tuesday, declaring that Netanyahu’s remarks pose a serious threat to collective Arab national security, violating international law and the principles of international legitimacy. The statement further characterized the comments as indicative of expansionist and aggressive intentions, rejecting them outright and highlighting an extremist mindset rooted in colonial ideologies. Egypt has also joined the chorus of disapproval, condemning statements in Israeli media regarding ‘Greater Israel’ while reiterating its commitment to peace in the Middle East. Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has demanded official clarifications regarding these statements, citing their potential to destabilize the region.
