A 19-year-old from Arizona has died after participating in the dangerous social media trend known as ‘dusting.’ Renna O’Rourke inhaled an aerosol keyboard cleaner, leading to cardiac arrest. Despite being admitted to the ICU, she was later declared brain dead. Her father reported that her boyfriend had obtained the cleaner without the family’s knowledge. ‘Dusting,’ also known as ‘huffing’ or ‘chroming,’ involves inhaling household chemicals to achieve a high. This can cause serious health issues, including heart failure. Renna’s family is now focused on raising awareness about the risks associated with this trend, urging parents to monitor their children’s activities and living spaces. They have also started a GoFundMe page to help cover medical expenses and therapy costs. This tragedy echoes a similar incident in the UK in March 2024, where a young boy also died from inhaling toxic substances.
