A 19-year-old from Arizona, Renna O’Rourke, has died as a result of the dangerous ‘dusting’ trend, which involves inhaling household cleaners. Her boyfriend reportedly obtained an aerosol keyboard cleaner without her parents’ knowledge, and she suffered cardiac arrest after inhaling it. Despite being kept in the ICU for four days, doctors declared her brain dead. ‘Dusting,’ also known as ‘huffing’ or ‘chroming,’ is a viral trend on social media where individuals inhale substances to achieve a high, which can lead to heart failure. Renna’s family is now focused on raising awareness about the dangers of this trend and urging parents to monitor their children’s activities to prevent further tragedies. They have also started a GoFundMe page to help cover medical bills and therapy costs. This incident echoes a similar case in the UK from March 2024, where a boy lost his life after inhaling toxic substances.
