Pakistan’s current Army Chief, General Asim Munir, will now remain in his position until 2027. Following recent clashes with India, the government promoted him to Field Marshal, making him the second Field Marshal in Pakistan after military dictator Ayub Khan. His position as Army Chief has now been fully secured. This means that no one will be able to remove Asim Munir until November 29, 2027. The government has clarified that the tenure of service chiefs (Army, Navy, and Air Force) will be five years, not three. Once a service chief is appointed, they will remain in the same position for five years.
