Authorities Warn of New Flood Risk Following Tibetan Lake Burst

Later on Friday, Nepalese officials issued a fresh alert warning that a lake in Tibet’s highlands may have ruptured, potentially triggering another wave of flooding in the country. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) reported increased flow of water, debris and mud in the Bhote Koshi River near Rasuwa, the same area that suffered a major flood on August 26.

The authority urged all rescue and relief personnel working along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers, as well as residents in high‑risk zones, to exercise extreme caution and relocate to safety at the first sign of danger.
