Authorities Launch 72‑Hour Manhunt After KwaZulu-Natal Mass Shooting

Following a mass shooting that resulted in eleven deaths and three injuries in KwaZulu-Natal’s Qwamakhutha area, South African police have initiated a 72‑hour manhunt to bring the gunmen to justice. The incident occurred on Tuesday night when three attackers opened fire on a house hosting a party of thirteen men and a pregnant woman. Ten victims perished at the scene, and after hospitalisation, one more succumbed to injuries. Acting national commissioner Puleng Dimpane instructed that all resources be marshalled and that the perpetrators be pursued relentlessly until they appear before a court. Early inquiries point to several victims being listed in the SAPS crime intelligence database for alleged illegal activities, though a motive has yet to be confirmed.
