A Bangladeshi woman, identified as Shanta Paul, was arrested in Kolkata this week for residing in India under false pretenses. Authorities revealed that Paul, who worked as an airline crew member and pursued a career in modeling, was apprehended with fabricated documentation. She reportedly entered India from Barisal, Bangladesh, in 2023 using a valid passport and subsequently secured a Kolkata flat by submitting counterfeit identification, including an Aadhaar card, PAN card, and Voter ID. Further reports indicate that Paul is believed to have entered into a digital marriage with Sahik Mohammad Ashraf, a resident of Andhra Pradesh. Paul is currently in police custody.
