Booming Imports and Sales at Hainan Free Trade Port This Spring Festival

In a vibrant display of economic vitality, Hainan's Haikou customs recorded duty-free sales exceeding 2.07 billion yuan on the island during the 2026 Spring Festival break – a 30.8% jump from last year.

The volume of goods sold hit 1.997 million units, a 21.9% increase, while purchase transactions soared 35.4% to 325,000. These figures paint a picture of heightened consumer enthusiasm fueled by tax-free incentives.

The Hainan FTP's zero-tariff policy enabled the import of 48.6 million yuan in merchandise, slashing taxes by 9.42 million yuan. This policy not only cuts costs but also accelerates supply chains for luxury and everyday items alike.

Holiday customs closures at the FTP boosted overall port imports to 1.426 billion yuan, dominated by energy commodities like crude oil and coal. On the export front, 344 million yuan in goods, including chemicals and rapeseed oil, left the port.

Hainan's strategic push towards free trade is yielding tangible results, enhancing its status as South China's commercial hub. With sustained policies, the region is poised for exponential trade expansion, benefiting businesses and visitors alike.
