BRICS 18th Summit in Delhi Sees Adoption of New Delhi Declaration

On Saturday, leaders of the 11 BRICS member states gathered in New Delhi to adopt the "New Delhi Declaration" unanimously.

The document praised India’s chairmanship for injecting fresh momentum into international cooperation and solidified the group’s commitment to principles such as mutual respect, sovereign equality, democracy, openness, inclusivity and consensus‑based decision‑making.

The declaration highlighted the expansion of BRICS, noting the inclusion of Egypt as a full member and acknowledging the role of partner nations like Belarus, Cuba, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

The summit’s theme – “Building Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability” – reflected Prime Minister Modi’s people‑first approach, emphasizing humanity as the highest priority. The declaration also set the stage for future BRICS‑Plus dialogues, aiming to broaden the group’s outreach and deepen collaboration across emerging economies.
