BRICS Leaders Discuss Currency Alternatives and Climate Action at New Delhi Meeting

The Delhi summit’s theme, “Resilience, Innovation and a Sustainable Economy,” places climate change, artificial intelligence, terrorism and global security high on the discussion list. Behera explained that BRICS members are considering transactions in their own currencies rather than the dollar, a move that could weaken the latter’s global hegemony but is not expected to eliminate it entirely. He also pointed out that cooperation in sectors such as steel, railways, space, agriculture and fertilizers is expected to expand, especially with Russia.
