BRICS Must Denounce UN Violations, Says Iran Minister

In a stirring address to BRICS foreign ministers in New Delhi, Iran's top diplomat Seyed Abbas Araghchi made a compelling case for unity against international lawbreakers. Speaking on May 14, he insisted the group must unequivocally condemn those undermining the UN Charter without any reservations. Over the last year, Iran has endured two vicious and unlawful assaults, Araghchi revealed, attempts to legitimize them based on fabricated charges. Yet, reports from the IAEA and American intelligence tell a starkly different story, exposing the falsehoods. Labeling Iran a victim of unlawful expansionism and belligerence, he praised the unyielding spirit of its people amid coercion and brutality. Sovereignty remains non-negotiable, as Iran has proven time and again by never yielding to threats. Araghchi lauded the heroism of Iran's armed forces, medical professionals, educators, and security personnel who risked everything to shield citizens. He extended heartfelt recognition to affected families, particularly mothers and young people embodying defiance. Far from crumbling under duress, Iran rebounds with greater fortitude, the minister stated. While committed to talks and diplomacy, Tehran will take every measure to safeguard its independence and borders. No military fix exists for Iran-related conflicts, he underscored, cautioning aggressors of a robust retaliation from Iranian forces if provoked. Peace is the people's desire, not war. Positioning BRICS as the beacon of a new global paradigm amplifying the Global South, Araghchi slammed America's dominance-driven approach. Iran's fight safeguards not only itself but allies opposing Western meddling. The appeal was clear: BRICS should vocally oppose US and Israeli breaches of global norms, prevent the misuse of international bodies, and enforce responsibility on violators. Araghchi concluded by challenging BRICS to pioneer a fairer, equitable, and compassionate international system.
