BRICS Summit Yields Joint Statement Condemning Terrorism

The first day of the 18th BRICS summit concluded with a historic consensus on a joint communiqué. Member states unequivocally condemned the terrorist attack that took place on 22 April 2025 in Pulwama, which claimed 26 lives and injured many others.

The statement denounced all forms of terrorism, irrespective of the perpetrators’ motivations, religion, nationality, or ethnicity. It called for a zero‑tolerance approach, demanding that those involved in financing, planning, or providing safe havens for terror be held accountable under national and international law.

The communiqué also urged the international community to reject double standards in counter‑terrorism efforts and to work collectively to dismantle terror networks worldwide.
