China Plans Faster Real-Time Payments and QR Code Integration by 2026

Starting 17 October 2026, China will extend the operating window of its large‑value real‑time payment system from "5x21+12 hours" to "5x22.5+13.5 hours". The change aims to improve technical interoperability across global payment networks and to promote cross‑border QR‑code payment integration, offering more flexible settlement options for international users.
