China Visit Reinforces India’s Border Management Approach

Former external affairs minister Akbar highlighted the recent visit of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to Beijing as a turning point for India‑China relations. He said the trip helped ease the long‑standing border management issue that has haunted New Delhi since the 1962 war.

Akbar explained that the 1988 border agreement still informs the present stance, where both sides accept the reality on the ground and look for alternative cooperation pathways. He also hinted that a senior ‘hawk’ in the Chinese army may have been sidelined, indicating a possible shift in Beijing’s approach toward Delhi.
