Cho Hyun Meets Nepal Counterparts, Promises Additional Relief Supplies

At Incheon International Airport, foreign minister Cho Hyun confirmed that Nepal’s disaster situation remains critical. He warned that the country’s infrastructure has been severely damaged and that the Korean team will stay engaged until relief operations stabilize.

In Kathmandu, Cho will sit down with Nepal’s foreign minister Shishir Khanal, senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and representatives of the Korea Disaster Relief Team. The agenda includes reviewing the ongoing search for nine missing Korean engineers, distributing emergency material, and planning joint reconstruction projects for the flood‑ravaged districts.

South Korea has already dispatched a cargo of thermal blankets and other essential items, and further assistance is being prepared. The collaborative effort involves the Nepalese administration, corporate response teams, and KDRT personnel, who are deploying helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles and canine units to locate survivors and recover bodies.

Both governments reiterated their long‑standing partnership, emphasizing that coordinated relief and future rebuilding measures will strengthen ties and improve resilience against natural disasters.
