Collective Punishment Alleged in Kalat Mass Displacement, BYC Says

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee has labeled the recent eviction order in Kalat district as an act of collective punishment. The decree, issued by the deputy commissioner on September 20, gave residents until September 28 to abandon homes in four villages: Shor Parod, Khallili, Khalkhti and Shoki.

BYC argues that the blanket removal of an entire population for alleged security reasons violates international human‑rights norms. The organization points out that targeting a specific ethnic community with such sweeping measures aligns with patterns of genocide, where deprivation of land and livelihood serves as a tool of extermination.

The committee called on the provincial administration to withdraw the order without delay, to guarantee safety for the people who remain, and to uphold their right to live with dignity, free from intimidation and forced displacement.
