Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid visits Delhi for BRICS summit, meets PM Modi

Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in New Delhi on Friday ahead of the 18th BRICS summit. The official delegation was received at the airport by Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh and escorted to the Hyderabad House for a private audience with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.

The bilateral encounter, held under the backdrop of the BRICS gathering, focused on enhancing the “comprehensive strategic partnership” that India and the United Arab Emirates have cultivated over recent years. Senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs, including Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary V. Misri, participated in the discussions.

Key points of the dialogue covered cooperation in high‑tech sectors, especially artificial intelligence and space research, as well as expanding trade ties and securing energy supplies. Both leaders cited recent successes, such as joint investments in solar parks and the procurement of defence platforms, and set targets for the next fiscal year.

The conversation also addressed broader geopolitical issues, with the two leaders sharing assessments on regional stability, the evolving security dynamics in the Gulf, and the importance of a rules‑based international order.

The meeting concluded with a joint statement stressing the continuation of regular high‑level exchanges and the intention to deepen collaboration across all sectors as the BRICS summit proceeds.
