De Wever’s India Trip Aims to Boost Trade, Defence and Renewable Energy Ties

Belgium’s prime minister Bart De Wever will land in New Delhi on September 2, marking his inaugural official visit to the subcontinent. The three‑day trip is focused on expanding cooperation in key sectors such as trade, defence, technology, renewable power and logistics.

During the September 3 bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both sides will assess progress on the pending free‑trade agreement between India and the EU, discuss supply‑chain resilience in semiconductors and maritime domains, and outline joint initiatives in green energy.

Following the Delhi schedule, De Wever will travel to Mumbai to engage with stakeholders from the diamond industry, port authorities and logistics firms, underscoring Belgium’s interest in India’s emerging infrastructure corridors.
