Death Toll Rises to 162 as Nepal Battles Bhote Koshi Flood Disaster

The devastating flood caused by the Bhote Koshi River has resulted in 162 confirmed fatalities across Nepal, according to police reports. The tragedy unfolded on Wednesday, when swollen waters inundated Rasuwa district, sweeping away homes and cutting off transport routes.

The latest figures break down as follows: two bodies recovered in Rasuwa, twelve in Nuwakot, twenty‑seven in Dhading, sixty‑four in Chitwan, twenty in Gorkha, nine in Tanahun, twenty‑six in eastern Nepal and two in the western region. The disaster has also left hundreds of tourists, migrant workers and local residents unaccounted for.

Rescue teams from the army, police and private helicopter operators continue to search the hardest‑hit areas, particularly Timure and Syafrabesi, while authorities distribute food, water, tents and medical supplies to survivors.
