Defense Ties Deepen as Morocco Reviews Tank and Engine Repair Capabilities

New Delhi, September 9 – A Moroccan delegation, under the command of Brigadier General Abdellah Athamani, toured the 505 Army Base Workshop to examine India’s capacity for maintaining heavy armour and power‑train systems.

The workshop’s specialists walked the guests through the step‑by‑step procedures for disassembly, inspection, refurbishment and re‑assembly of main battle tanks and their propulsion units. Participants observed how indigenous design modifications and advanced material science are incorporated to enhance durability.

Discussions also covered the workshop’s drive toward greater self‑sufficiency, including the development of local spare‑part manufacturing and the adoption of predictive maintenance software.

This exchange reinforced the broader agenda set by the inaugural Indo‑Moroccan defence committee, which aims to expand cooperation in training, joint exercises and defence industry collaboration.
