Former US President Donald Trump has made a significant statement regarding the Nobel Peace Prize. He believes that if he is not awarded the prize, it would be a major insult, not just to him, but to the entire United States. Trump claims to have ended seven major international conflicts and states that if the Gaza conflict also ceases, it would be his eighth historical achievement.
This statement comes at a time when the Nobel Prizes for this year are scheduled to be announced on October 10th. Trump has frequently discussed the Nobel Prize. In 2024, he said that if his name was Obama, he would have received the Nobel in 10 seconds. Obama received the honor without doing anything, while he won the election and proved himself. He has now raised the same issue in his recent statement.
During a conversation with officials at the Quantico military headquarters in Virginia on Tuesday, Trump said, “We have almost resolved the Gaza issue. Now we have to see whether Hamas agrees or not. If they don’t agree, things will become difficult for them. The good thing is that all Arab and Muslim countries have given their consent, and Israel also agrees.”
Trump added, “Think about it, ending eight conflicts in eight months is no small feat? But I will not get the Nobel. This honor will be given to someone who has done nothing, or to an author who writes a book on Trump’s mind and sells the story of my hard work.”
The President made it clear that not getting the Nobel is not a personal issue for him but an insult to the nation. He stated, “I don’t want this award for myself. America should get it because the world has never seen such an achievement. Resolving eight conflicts is no less than a miracle.”
According to media reports, seven countries have nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize so far. These include Pakistan, Israel, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Rwanda, and Gabon. However, according to the tradition of the Nobel Committee, official information about the nominations is not made public for 50 years.
