Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Reached with Vietnam, Says Indian FM

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar announced that India and Vietnam have now reached an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, a status he described as a first for any country in the region with India. The announcement came during the 19th joint commission meeting, where Jaishankar welcomed Vietnam’s foreign minister and highlighted the significance of recent high‑level visits, including President To Lam’s delegation. He pointed out that Vietnam’s role is pivotal for India’s Act East Policy, maritime strategy, and broader Indo‑Pacific vision, and that cooperation with Vietnam strengthens India’s strategic engagement with ASEAN.
