The FBI is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a ‘person of interest’ in the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk. The suspect, described as college-aged, fatally shot Kirk during an event at Utah Valley University. Kirk, a prominent conservative commentator and ally of Donald Trump, was killed on Wednesday in what Utah Governor Spencer Cox has called a political assassination. Authorities believe the shooter blended into the university environment. Investigators have recovered the rifle used in the attack, along with physical evidence for analysis. The FBI has received over 130 tips and is actively investigating each one. While video footage of the suspect exists, it has not been released to the public at this time. Authorities are prioritizing public safety while conducting their investigation. Charlie Kirk, born in 1993, was a political activist, author, and media personality known for his conservative views. He was involved in politics from a young age and left college to pursue activism.
