Foreign Ministry Cites Threat to Bab al-Mandeb Shipping Lane

In a statement to the press, the Ministry of External Affairs said the recent Houthi offensive against Saudi installations poses a direct risk to the Bab al‑Mandeb strait, a vital conduit for international shipping. The ministry noted that attacks on civilian infrastructure weaken regional stability and could jeopardise the free movement of vessels carrying energy supplies to India. While condemning the violence, New Delhi urged the international community to press for a swift cease‑fire and to ensure that the Red Sea corridor remains open for commercial traffic.
