Foreign Missions Mark Diwali with Cultural Events in Delhi

Sunday’s Diwali celebrations lit up Delhi, and the city’s foreign missions turned the occasion into a series of cultural showcases. Using X, embassies from Greece, the European Union, Australia and Ukraine broadcast their festive activities and goodwill messages.

The Greek Embassy released a video where its staff answered light‑hearted Diwali questions, shared their favorite confectionery, recounted a standout Diwali experience in India, and discussed a tradition they hope to replicate at home.

One diplomat expressed, “Wishing all Indian friends a Diwali as sweet as kaju barfi.” Another added a thoughtful note: “Light is more than a celebration; it is a conduit for sharing warmth, linking people without limits.”

The EU delegation posted a concise greeting, sending blessings for prosperity and harmony.

Australia’s High Commissioner, Philip Green, posted photos of embassy members in sarees and kurta‑pajamas, dancing to traditional tunes. He highlighted that this Diwali held special meaning as his final one in the post, describing the day as a vivid blend of camaraderie, festive sparkle, and rhythmic movement.

Ukrainian Ambassador Oleksandr Polishchuk shared a video salute, wishing a happy Diwali to all Indians, with a special message to those residing in Ukraine during turbulent times. He spoke of Diwali’s light as a beacon of hope, peace and better days to come.

Together, these diplomatic celebrations demonstrated the global resonance of Diwali, emphasizing cultural diplomacy and the shared joy of light across nations.
