The wife of former Nepalese Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal has been brought to India for further medical treatment after sustaining serious injuries during Gen-Z protests in Nepal on September 9th. Gen-Z refers to the youth born between 1997 and 2012. During the violent protests, a mob set fire to Khanal’s residence in the Dallu area of Kathmandu, severely injuring his wife, Rabi Laxmi Chitrakar. Chitrakar, who suffered burns across 15% of her body, was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kirtipur. Her family reported that her left arm was completely burned, and smoke inhalation had caused a chest infection affecting her lungs. On the recommendation of doctors, she was brought to New Delhi for further treatment. Khanal served as Nepal’s Prime Minister from February to August 2011.
