Following widespread anti-government protests in Nepal by the Gen-Z demographic, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was compelled to resign. After maintaining silence, Oli has issued his first statement on the events. He refuted claims that he ordered the shooting of protestors during the demonstrations. Oli made these remarks in his first public address since resigning from the prime minister’s office on September 9 amid violent protests against corruption and restrictions on social media. Addressing party leaders and workers at his private residence in the Bhaktapur district, Oli, the chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist), stated that he did not order the shooting of the Gen-Z protestors during the movement.
