Heavy, unexpected rainfall has devastated Pakistan‑occupied Gilgit‑Baltistan, the disaster management authority reported. Six locations in the Diamer district experienced flash floods that swept away homes, crops, and sections of the Karakoram Highway. Traffic on the Thall Valley was completely halted as the main road overflowed, and thousands are now coping with power‑line failures and debris infiltrating residences. Private contractors working on the Diamer‑Bhasha dam project suffered major losses, with thirteen dumpers, an excavator, a crushing plant, and two water tanks swept away, stalling construction.
