Global aid pours into Nepal as floods claim over 1,200 lives

The Bhote Koshi flood that swept through Rasuwa district has triggered an unprecedented international response. While Nvidia’s $10 million pledge adds to the national fund, a cascade of assistance from India, China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the United States, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the European Union is already on the ground.

India alone has dispatched five phases of relief, delivering 74 tonnes of supplies and specialist rescue teams. China contributed NPR 300 million and 50 tonnes of material, while the United States announced $500,000 in aid. Europe’s contributions range from €2 million by the EU’s civil protection body to £500,000 from the United Kingdom.

The joint effort aims to locate the 5,053 missing persons, provide emergency shelter, and rebuild infrastructure destroyed by the disaster.
