A significant breakthrough in the ongoing conflict: 13 Israeli hostages have been transferred from Hamas captivity to the care of the Red Cross, with the first seven already safely back on Israeli soil. The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the handover, marking a crucial step in de-escalation. These individuals will undergo initial medical evaluations upon their return.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office expressed profound relief, stating, “The Government of Israel embraces our hostages who have returned to their border.” The statement underscored a commitment to the safe return of all captives held by Hamas.
Footage captured the emotional moment the freed hostages, identified as Alon Ohel, Matan Angrest, Gali Berman, Ziv Berman, Guy Gilboa-Dalal, Eitan Mor, and Omri Miran, were handed over to the Red Cross before crossing into Israel. This development has garnered considerable international commendation.
Adding to the diplomatic momentum, United States President Donald Trump landed in Israel for his first visit since announcing a ceasefire deal. He received a warm welcome from Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog at Ben-Gurion International Airport. Trump is slated to address the Israeli Knesset and later travel to Egypt for a summit with international leaders focused on the Gaza peace process and ending the protracted conflict. Prior to his arrival, President Trump declared that the “war is over.”
