Humanitarian Medical Package Faces Diplomatic Hurdles as North Korea Delays Response

South Korea’s latest humanitarian outreach includes more than 1,400 pieces of medical gear, organized into 166 distinct categories. Items such as X‑ray machines, stethoscopes, surgery tables and automated external defibrillators are slated for a Pyongyang hospital. The total cost is calculated at about $6.75 million and the list was drafted together with the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare. Despite a United Nations sanctions exemption granted in May, the plan remains on hold because Pyongyang has not resumed talks. With diplomatic channels largely inactive, experts warn that the aid could be delayed indefinitely.
