India Courts Chinese Tourists with Rajasthan Showcase in China

In a strategic push to revive pre-pandemic visitor numbers, Rajasthan launched a dedicated roadshow in Beijing to attract Chinese travelers. Embassy officials and state representatives presented Rajasthan's unique blend of history, wildlife, and luxury to an audience that included social media influencers and tourism professionals. Last year the state welcomed over 254 million tourists, with foreign arrivals nearing two million. Yet Chinese numbers stayed low, prompting the targeted campaign in Beijing and Shanghai. Presentations covered the architectural marvels of Amer Fort, the serene lakes of Udaipur, and the living fortresses of Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, while also spotlighting the tiger reserves of Ranthambore. Speakers stressed that Rajasthan offers more than scenic beauty. They highlighted Buddhist archaeological remains in the state and the Palace on Wheels luxury train as distinctive experiences. The message was clear: Rajasthan is ready to welcome Chinese guests with the warmth captured in its traditional slogan 'Padharo Mhare Des.'
