Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted that cross-border terrorism affects both India and China. During a press conference, Misri mentioned that cross-border terrorism was a priority for the Prime Minister, who emphasized its impact on both nations. He confirmed that China is providing understanding and cooperation to India in combating cross-border terrorism, particularly in the context of the ongoing SCO Summit. Regarding border talks, Misri noted the establishment of dedicated mechanisms to advance discussions. He expects that existing mechanisms for coordination and cooperation in border areas will convene in the coming weeks, with leaders from both sides reaching an understanding on how to proceed with delimitation-related talks. Both countries are primarily focused on domestic development and see each other as partners rather than rivals. A stable relationship between India and China benefits the 2.8 billion people residing in both countries. Common interests outweigh differences, and leaders agreed that differences should not escalate into disputes. It was also understood that India and China must grow and cooperate for an Asian century and a functioning multipolar world order. Both leaders emphasized the need to reduce the bilateral trade deficit, facilitate trade and investment, and increase policy transparency and predictability.
