India has stated at the United Nations (UN) that it is prepared to support diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war swiftly. Parvathaneni Harish, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, expressed India’s concern over the situation in Ukraine. He emphasized the belief that the lives of innocent people should not be lost and that a solution cannot be found on the battlefield. India has consistently emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the only paths to ending the war, regardless of the challenges. The participation and commitment of both countries are crucial for lasting peace, and an early end to the war is in everyone’s interest. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated on multiple occasions that this is not an era of war, and India is ready to support diplomatic efforts towards this goal. India welcomes recent positive developments in this direction, including the summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, and appreciates the progress made there. Additionally, it commends Trump’s diplomatic efforts with the Ukrainian President and European leaders in Washington D.C. Prime Minister Modi is in contact with President Putin, President Zelensky, and European leadership regarding the current situation.
