India, Russia reaffirm commitment to joint military tech at New Delhi summit

The capital city of India, New Delhi, welcomed senior defence officials from India and Russia for the fifth session of the Army Land Systems Sub‑Group (ALSSG) between August 4 and August 7. The event, part of the Inter‑Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation, served as a platform to evaluate and expand collaborative defence initiatives.

Leading the Indian contingent was Lieutenant General Rahul R. Singh, Deputy Chief of the Army Staff (Capability Development and Systems). The Russian side was represented by Major General Alexander Tufekchi, Deputy Head of the Main Armored Directorate, who emphasized the importance of shared technological advancements.

Delegates highlighted their resolve to boost joint production of land‑based platforms, enhance technology transfer mechanisms, and streamline research collaborations. The meeting also revisited milestones achieved under previous agreements and set timelines for upcoming joint projects.

This gathering followed the 14th India‑Russia Counter‑Terrorism Joint Working Group, where both countries discussed counter‑terrorism financing, the exploitation of digital finance by extremist groups, and the necessity for a unified response.

Both governments reiterated their dedication to cooperative action against terrorism at global and regional fora such as the United Nations, BRICS, the Eurasian Economic Union and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, condemning the violent incidents in Pahalgam (April 22, 2025) and near the Red Fort (November 10, 2025).
