India-UAE Review Bilateral Ties, Eye Wider Strategic Partnership

Abu Dhabi, November 2: India and the United Arab Emirates reviewed their bilateral relationship and considered ways to further consolidate the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, following a meeting between Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State and Special Envoy for India.

Both sides also exchanged views on West Asia developments and on global matters of mutual interest during the meeting.

According to a post on X by the Indian Embassy in the UAE, Misri examined all aspects of India-UAE relations with Al Hashimy and discussed how to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The embassy said the two also shared perspectives on the situation in West Asia and on international issues of common concern.

Misri, who was on an official visit to the UAE, was welcomed by Indian Ambassador Deepak Mittal before the meeting.

The discussions come on the heels of an October 20 meeting in Mumbai between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders reviewed bilateral ties and explored opportunities to enhance the comprehensive strategic and economic partnership.

Jaishankar stated that India-UAE relations were living up to their promise as a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Misri and Additional Secretary (Gulf) Asim Mahajan of the Ministry of External Affairs, along with other officials, attended that session.

Jaishankar later posted on X that the meeting had given a detailed look at their wide-ranging ties. He pointed to clear progress and ambition in trade, investment, energy, technology, logistics, defence, education and people-to-people links.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs also publicised the Mumbai meeting, noting that the discussions focused on new opportunities to strengthen the strategic and economic partnership and to expand cooperation in sectors critical to the aspirations of both nations for development and prosperity.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan's visit to India took place after Jaishankar's recent visit to the UAE.
