Indian diaspora praised as bridge during Modi’s Tashkent stop

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stop in Tashkent shone a spotlight on the Indian expatriate community that resides in Uzbekistan. Arriving on Saturday, the Prime Minister was welcomed by a large gathering of Indian nationals who expressed their support and affection.

The Prime Minister’s itinerary included a visit to the Yangi Uzbekistan monument, where he and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid tribute to the aspirations of the Uzbek people. The ceremony was followed by a cultural program that blended Indian and Uzbek artistic expressions, featuring tabla, doira, and chang performances.

During a yoga session organized by the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan, Modi interacted with participants, emphasizing the role of yoga in promoting health and cross‑cultural dialogue. The event further highlighted the shared values of wellness and spirituality.

The visit concluded with heartfelt moments as several Indian women tied rakhi on Modi’s wrist, symbolizing the deep bond between the Prime Minister and the Indian community abroad.
